Our classes are taught by a number of highly qualified and creative individuals. These classes can range from dance, to sewing, to giant puppet making, to watercolour painting.

School Tours

The Art Station School Tour programs combine educational exhibition tours and hands-on art activities for students of The Elk Valley. Students will explore the exhibition as they lean about contemporary artists and the artists’ processes. Art activities provide a fun, creative extension to the students’ learning experiences, while they develop specific artistic skills. Tours are guaranteed to stimulate dialogue, facilitate questions, and complement the fine arts curriculum, as well as encourage the exploration of art.

Workshops

The Arts Station is home to a dedicated adult and children workshop series from September through May.

Throughout the year other workshop and class options arise. Classes and workshops vary in duration and may be one-off events featuring a visiting artist, drop in series, scheduled weekly event, weekend camp or other format. Past and current events include feltmaking, pottery, painting, drawing, graffiti art, drama, creative writing, lantern building, crafts, encaustic art, jewellery making, sculpture, film-making, and much much more!

Indie Films Fernie

A hugely popular monthly screening series of high-caliber independent works of cinema. Screening at 5pm at the Vogue Theatre on the first Sunday of every month, September - April. See calendar for details.

Gallery Openings

Every month a new artist is featured in the gallery. Drop by during regular opening hours to see the works, which range from pottery to printing, woodworking to fibre arts, and painting to glasswork. An opening reception is held each month, see calendar for dates.
