The annual Fernie Tears & Gears duathlon was raced in some classic September sunshine!
A brisk but clear morning greeted competitors as they warmed up for the 9am start but it wasn’t long before the Fernie sunshine made for an ideal day of racing.
The classic course comprised of a 10 km run and a 12 km mountain bike ride, showing the most interest with the majority of race entries choosing to give this challenging short course a go. The enduro course was a mammoth 20 km run and 25km ride, attracting some the of regions best long distance athletes looking to test their legs in the solo and team categories.
It wasn’t all hardcore racing! This year Tears & Gears also held a new kids race with two, 4 km loops to run and ride. It was an exciting race start for the kids with runners blowing out of the gate like a 100m sprint!
A huge thanks must go to Krista and Abi for putting on another great day of racing and to all the volunteers who helped out to make this event run smoothly!
