Golfing season is coming up fast, and this year, I’m going to be ready for it! I won't be winning any local tournaments, but I hope to keep my lost ball count to a minimum.

This was my first visit to the Fernie Golf & Country Club and it is the most peaceful range I have ever been to. It's so nice to hit a basket of balls while surrounded by the rocky mountains rather than a highway. If your clubs aren't cooperating, take a moment to enjoy the view. Most golf courses are a beautiful sight, but the Fernie Golf & Country Club takes it to a whole new level. Time your visit just right you can catch a glimpse of the infamous Ghost Rider on Mount Hosmer.

If you didn’t bring clubs, and just want to hit a basket or two, don’t worry, they have some loaner clubs on hand. If you plan on heading for a round after the range, the Golf Club Pro Shop offers rentals. Bringing enough equipment for all the activities in Fernie would get a little crowded!

I purchased Ball Bin tokens in the Pro Shop. Walk straight into The Clubhouse and head down the stairs, or walk around the back to find it. The tokens cost $5 each and 2 tokens filled up my basket. The Ball Bin is right outside the Pro Shop door.

You can see the row of golfers hitting balls at the range from the Pro Shop, just a short walk down the path and over the bridge. It was a great way to spend time outside while peacefully practicing my swing. While I was there the trees didn't have their leaves just yet, I'm sure the views are even more amazing now! I guaranteed spent a little extra time getting through my basket than most...I had to stop and take a few photos of the views, they really are amazing.

Turns out my hiatus from golf didn’t ruin my swing entirely. I can’t wait to try out the course, that will be the real test. The first 9 holes are opening May 1st and soon after that, the full 18. The daily rates are posted and if you're looking for a deal you can sign up for a twilight round.

The range is open daily from 10 am–6 pm and a short drive or walk from accommodations. If you're ready to head out for a round you can book a tee time with their online booking calendar. Check out our current lodging deals and packages specials and stop by the driving range to hit a basket of balls!
