The recent snowfall in Fernie provided plenty of great photo ops in town and on the mountains. It's been hard to not fall in love with the outdoors these last few days!
Fernie Alpine Resort opened for Winter 2016 with crowds queueing from the early hours waiting for the gates to open. Some even went as far as camping overnight in order to be first to load Timber Chair and shred down the untouched powder.
Fat bikes may have begun as a laughable fad when they first appeared nearly a decade ago, but they're fast becoming a common sight on the Fernie trails. Global Fat Biking Day took place on Saturday 3rd December with a fantastic turn out for two guided tours provided by Fernie Mountain Bike Club up into Ridgemont and Montane Trails.
We love to see how people are spending their time in Fernie. Share your adventure with #Ferniestoke to see it featured on Ferniestoke.com.

Global Fat Bike Day saw huge packs of riders hitting the trails (@phil_mclachlan)
Backcountry is looking sweet for sledders (@brandonsadam & @erpbezak):
Fairy Creek Falls is as stunning as ever with its wintery coat draped over the bank (@the_concrete_fix)
Fernie Ghostriders won back-to-back fixtures against local rivals Kimberley Dynamiters. Both times they overturned a first-period deficit, creating an electrified atmosphere at Fernie Memorial Arena.
It wasn't just people who were enjoying the wintery snowfall (@christaproulx)
Even with the ski lifts back in operation, some people like @jeremymccalla still love the peace of backcountry boarding, and the reward of 'earning their turn'...
...and some are content having the local rivers and trout all to themselves (@cliff_razzo)
The consensus seems to be that we're all pretty stoked of the winter coming (@abbydells)
