Many of the dishes found at the Tandoor Grill are a fusion of Nepalese and Indian cuisine using many traditions such as a Tandoor oven, where naan bread is prepared and marinated meat dishes are carefully cooked. There are three gifts a chef needs when cooking Indian food: knowledge of spices and their portions, the making of good marinades, and always using fresh ingredients. All of these talents and more can be found on the plates at the Tandoor Grill.
Our Head Chef, Keshab Sapka, and Chef Bish have an obsessive passion to deliver the best food in the Indian Cuisine.
Keshab Sapka was born in Nepal close to the Indian border, studied cooking in India and has been cooking professionally for thirteen years, with the last four in Fernie. “Cooking is in my blood.” He says. Kasheb grew up in a house where preparing food was an important part of the day; his mother was a great cook and both of his brothers are also chefs.
Chef Bish joined the Tandoor team recently and has an exceptional knowledge of the East Indian cuisine. Every year they fly home to visit their family and loved ones, but also to explore new recipes and spices to use in the new menu items and create exquisite flavours of sumptuous food for you.
Originally from Wales, UK, John is a Head Chef by trade having worked in several different restaurants and joins as the Tandoor & Grills Food & Beverage Manager. He has travelled the world and explored several European kitchens.
The rich aroma of exotic spices, the rhythm and songs of the ancient culture, vibrant statues portraying scenes from Indian life and legend, while surrounded by the picturesque panoramic mountain views. Our Restaurant has expanded with a loft area for a more intimate setting. If you would like to enjoy a nice dinner in a quiet atmosphere the Mezzanine is the place to go.
