Fernie's biggest unsecret-secret event of the year - a fun splash down the Elk River!
Great for all ages, visitor and locals, participants and spectators.
Rafters meet at Dogwood Park to be shuttled to the starting point at the end of Dicken Road. After a short practice session, the race is on! Around 25 rafts will race from the North Fernie Bridge to the South Fernie Bridge.
Rafts, equipment, and support are provided by Fernie's two Rafting Companies, Canyon Raft Co, and Mountain High Adventures. The event carries a very small participation fee and everything else is provided on a voluntary basis.
The event is a fundraiser for local initiatives - this year all funds will be donated to the Elk River Alliance for the Watershed Discovery Camps to promote a healthy river and improve the Elk River as a recreational opportunity for generations to come.
For more information or to find out how to participate please call Canyon Raft Company on 250-423-7226, or head down to the river around 7pm and watch as the rafts come past - if you ride your bike, you can follow them along the race route!
