Explore Fernie’s intricate history on a 90-minute walking tour of historical downtown.

On the surface, Fernie might seem like any mountain town: beautiful vistas, interesting shops, and over 90 accessible hiking and biking trails. If you dig a little deeper, you will discover a rich and dramatic history. Join one of our knowledgeable guides and explore the stories of Rum Runners and the devastating 1908 Great Fire and discover how these people and events have helped to shape Fernie as we see it today.

A variety of tours are offered at each weekend throughout July and August:

  • Historic Downtown & Cemetery Walking Tours depart from the Museum and are approx. 90 minutes in duration.
  • A short drive in participant's own vehicle is required for cemetery walking tours.
  • Bus Tours (Exploring the Ruins and Hosmer Cemetery Bus Tour) depart from the Fernie Museum and are approx 4 hours in duration.
