Discover winter wildlife survival strategies and spectacular habitat in one of the snowiest places on earth - Cedar Valley.

Experienced naturalist guides will take you on a guided interpretive tour, explaining the area's unique natural features and highlights along the way. These snowshoe tours are ideal for anyone who wants to explore Fernie's beautiful winter environment and learn from knowledgeable, local guides.

Mount Fernie Provincial Park Snowshoe Safari (3 hours)

  • Explore one of the snowiest wild places on earth. Discover winter survival strategies of wildlife in the Rocky Mountains. Snowshoe across powder meadows glistening like diamonds. Enjoy a hot drink and homemade baking alongside a sparkling mountain creek before returning with rosy cheeks, fond memories and a new appreciation of winter ecology. Departs from Mount Fernie Provincial Park entrance kiosk. Price includes local naturalist guide, hot drinks, homemade snack, snowshoe rentals, and park permit fees. 

Time: Every Thursday 9am (also available on other days and at 1pm on request)
Difficulty: Easy. Suitable for most ages and abilities
Price: $70/adult $180/family (includes 2 adults and all immediate children). Snowshoes, poles, homemade snacks and hot cider included.

About Lee-Anne Walker, Wild Nature Tours Guide:

Lee-Anne Walker came as an interpretive naturalist for the summer in 1983 and never left.  Teaching natural history for the local college mountain adventure program, she has worked as an eco-tour guide guiding hikes, snowshoe tours, canoe trips and step-on-bus tours.  Her enthusiasm and knowledge of Fernie's natural and human history will inspire a unique sense of place.
