Experienced naturalist guides will take you on a guided interpretive tour, explaining the area's unique natural features and highlights along the way. These hikes are ideal for anyone who wants to explore Fernie's beautiful trails and learn from knowledgeable, local guides.

2016 Summer Hikes are available as soon as the snowmelt allows. Hikes include the Giant Ammonite, Castle Mountain, Fairy Creek Falls and other select locations, and will be offered on specific dates and by reservation/availability. Call for details & reservations or to discuss special group tours.
Lee-Anne Walker came as an interpretive naturalist for the summer in 1983 and never left. Teaching natural history for the local college mountain adventure program, she has worked as an eco tour guide guiding hikes, snowshoe tours, canoe trips and step-on-bus tours. Her enthusiasm and knowledge of Fernie's natural and human history will inspire a unique sense of place.
Ryland Nelson works locally and internationally to protect the globally significant landscape of BC’s Southern Rockies. He can usually be found skiing, biking, or fishing in the mountains he is working to protect. Instrumental in the campaign to ban all mining and oil and gas in the Flathead River Valley, he is working towards the vision of completing the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park and establishing the Southern Rockies Wildlife Management Area (WMA) along the spine of the Rockies to Banff.
Lauren Riches has a diploma in fish and wildlife conservation and worked for the past two years with The Calgary Zoos Center for Conservation Research studying animals in the prairies such as Prairie Dogs, Black-footed Ferrets and Swift Fox. She is very passionate about the outdoors and loves identifying species of flowers and plants in the area and sharing this passion with others!
Mike Miskolczi with a background in environmental technology and fish and wildlife conservation, Mike will provide an informative and exciting experience by sharing knowledge and passion for the southeast Kootenay area.
