Lush and green throughout the spring, summer and fall months and full of legendary snow over the winter months, Fernie is a Rocky Mountain town with spectacular scenery that changes with the seasons.
Spring: April to mid-June (Spring equinox is on March 19th, 2024)
Summer: mid-June to mid-September (Summer solstice is on either June 20th, 2024)
Fall: mid-September to early November (Fall equinox is on either September 22nd, 2024). Best fall colours are typically between mid-September and end of October, with the leafy trees best in the early few weeks and the golden larch in the last few weeks.
Winter: early November - early April (Winter solstice is on either December 21st,2024).
In Canada we use Celsius, not Fahrenheit, actual daily temperatures vary. Daytime highs in the height of summer (July-Sept) can easily reach over 30 C and in December & January can sometimes be as lower than -20 C over a few days.
