Leave your little ones in the capable hands of the garden team at the Eco Garden this summer and see the transformation in your child from an inquisitive youngster to a garden expert!

July 10-14: EcoGarden Eco Camp

  • Kids + Dirt = FUN! Get ready for an action-packed, outdoor, fun-filled program that weaves together days filled with science experiments, big art, games, garden snacks and much more. Let your kiddos explore the garden in this fun-filled week spent outdoors at the Community EcoGarden and nearby Prentice Park. Maximum dirt included!

July 18-19: Bug-o-logy

  • Grab your nets and join the bug hunt! Campers will chase bugs as they flutter by, examine bugs under the microscope, build a set of wings to wear, and explore the mysterious lives of insects that visit the EcoGarden. Just for little ones!

August 8-9: Garden Chefs

  • Plunge those little fingers in the soil and discover what lies beneath. Explore delicious veggies, berries, and herbs from the ground up. Campers will plant seeds, harvest produce, help care for the garden and prepare and taste delicous treats. Just for little ones!

July 17-21 & August 14-18, 2017

Fun, engaging hands-on field camp for ages 10-14 on the beautiful Elk River in Fernie with the Elk River Alliance. 

Explore the Elk River Watershed on foot, bike, raft, & canoe!

Adventures include:

  • hiking
  • swimming
  • floating
  • canoeing
  • geocahing
  • wild yoga
  • stand up paddleboarding
  • biking
  • Kayaking
  • white water rafting
  • water science and more!

Learn practical, hands-on skills and meet professionals who work in environmental careers.

Skills acquired during the camp include:

  • water safety
  • river rescue
  • mapping & computer modelling
  • assessing river and riparian (riverbank) health
  • reading river hydraulics
  • thinking like a fish
  • reading mountain geology and glacial history

Participants will gain a new sense of appreciation for the beautiful Elk Valley and all the adventure that it has to offer!

Times: 9am-4pm Daily
Cost: $325 per participant per camp. Sibling discounts ($275 if registered prior to June 1st, 2017)
