Unlock the Methods for Creating Great Paintings!
Understanding the elements of design provides the freedom to paint your vision and to develop your personal style. This workshop will cover ideas such as using informal division of space, letters, the golden mean, perspective, geometric shapes and more. Learn to know when an image is worth painting - or not!
It's empowering and fun to see paintings get better using dynamic designs.
- Friday 7-8:30pm: Design discussion. Look at why certain paintings work and how they were composed.
- Saturday 9:30-4pm: We will discuss what, why and when a photo is worth painting. With guidance from Mirja, create designs from your own photos (or use Mirja's) by doing quick sketches and one-colour studies.
- Sunday 9:30-4pm: Continue honing your designs and begin painting your favorite choice. Artists are welcome to bring previous works in progress for feedback on what can increase visual impact.
