A super-sized weekend of arts, culture & adventure in Fernie, BC

Fernie has set the stage for a stunning weekend of arts, culture and adventure on August 9-11 2013.

Kicking off the weekend early on Wednesday 7th, the concert series is part of the Fernie Summer Socials Program and offers and outdoor concert, kids activities, beverage gardens and vendor area for a relaxing, friendly evening. DJ Cona on the outdoor stage at the Arts Station from 6-8pm.

On Thursday, get an early taste of Wapiti- Fernie's Music Festival at a special preview concert!  Only the first 60 weekend ticket holders to arrive at Clawhammer Press will be admitted- strictly first-come, first served. See Inlet Sound before anyone else does! Don't worry if you can't get in, they'll be live on stage later in the weekend. Also on Thursday, Joe Porter and Joel Goodfellow will be live in concert on Fernie's own Grand Piano.

Wapiti proper begins on Friday evening and runs all day Saturday in Annex Park, where the mountains will pulse to the sound of fresh Canadian Indie Music. The 3rd Annual event is a collection of lively, creative work featuring artists from coast to coast including Loon Choir, Delhi 2 Dublin, Current Swell, Portage & Main and local heroes The Good Ol' Goats and Shred Kelly.

On Saturday & Sunday, take in the Columbia Basin Arts & Culture Tour on a self-guided adventure to discover to hidden gems including artists, potters & Fernie's own traditional blacksmith.

Stretch your legs on Saturday with the Highline 100 - chose from a 100km or 100m road bike ride (it's not a race!) taking in the beautiful South Country near Fernie. Cross the US Border (don't forget your passport!) enjoy local cinnamon buns, beer, and icecream, and round out the day with a BBQ at Fernie Alpine Resort.

Also on Saturday, the He/She Golf Tournament is a great way for couples to unwind together on the golf course in a new twist on the traditional alternate shot style competition. Registration is now open and the event includes dinner and prizes.

On Sunday, Fernie's littlest visitors can enjoy an event all for them- the Bibbity Bobbity Boo Children's Festival is an annual event held at Rotary Park by the Fernie Heritage Library. Enjoy games, stories, music, bubbles, entertainers, gold-panning and much much more!

Also on Sunday - the Summer Social will bring Historic Downtown Fernie to life once again - Sunday 11th features one of the highlights of the summer- the ever-popular classic car show.
