Discover the fascinating flora, fauna & geology of Fernie with Fernie Alpine Resort's own naturalist guide, Nature Bob!

Step inside the interpretive centre in the yurt at the top of the Elk Chair and explore fossils, artifacts and information about the unique geological formations and fossils to be found, and the wildlife that makes it's home here in the Elk Valley. The yurt can be accessed by hiking from the base area, or taking the Elk Chairlift, daily 10.30am-4.30pm.

'Nature Bob' has been guiding people around at Fernie Alpine Resort for 11 years. Bob has a great passion for the mountains and a depth of knowledge that is only achievable through years of experience. When he's not out guiding, he's on hand to answer questions and chat with visitor at the yurt. Take an interpretive guided hike on one of the resort's many trails and gain a deeper understanding of how our valley was formed and how special our ecosystem is.
