Dining Al-Fresco in Fernie this Spring

May & June bring back the sunny spring days and mark the start of patio season. We sure love to seize every opportunity to get out and feel the warm rays shine down on us. There's just something special about eating 'al fresco'.

Whether you are just looking to enjoy a cool beverage, or take on a few courses after a day's adventure, there are plenty of patio options in and around Fernie.

Here are a few of our favourite Fernie patios.

You'll get plenty of space for your lunch party, great afternoon sun, and beautiful view of the Lizard Range on the Bridge Bisto patio. Found just off Highway 3 towards the West Fernie Bridge, they also have great breakfast options to fuel your day's adventure.

The lively Kodiak Lounge is part of the newly renovated Raging Elk Adventure Lodging. Their patio is covered, and is set up with fire-pits. Totally ready for whatever the Fernie weather can throw at us. The Kodiak hosts regular live music, and jam nights throughout the week. Be sure to check in on our Events Calendar

Arguably the best evening dining views can be found from the Cast Iron Grill patio. The unobstructed views across Fernie Golf Club look towards Mount Fernie, the Three Sisters, Mount Proctor, and Mount Hosmer where you may catch sight of the legendary Ghostrider shadow during sunset. Expect this spot to get much busier when Fernie Golf Club opens mid May.

The Pub at Park Place Lodge has a cozy patio great for couples and small groups. There's always plenty of bike rack space for those cruising around town looking for a bite to eat.

Opening as early as 6am, the Miner's Mud are here for you to drop by for your morning coffe. East Coast coffee and snacks are ready to grab and go, or enjoy at the roadside garden space. At the same spot, you'll may detect exotic eastern aromas around lunch time with the Chopstick Truck serving up Vietnamese street food from 11:30 to 7:30pm.

The secluded patio of the Fernie Distillers is the perfect spot for pre or post-meals cocktails. With a vast menu that is constantly getting tweaked by the talented bartenders, you'll find a flavour to suit your tastebuds.

Spring tends to see new seasonal releases by the imaginative team at Fernie Brewing Company. There's no better and fresher place to enjoy them than right at the source of production.

This is just a teaser of some of the great spots to dine outdoors in Fernie. Once the city has fully transitioned from the snowy season, expect patios from all your favourite coffee shops, bars and restaurans on Historic Downtown Fernie to extend outwards so you can keep working on that summer tan whilst you order lunch.
