As a registered charity, the FTA is constantly striving to make the local trail network the best possible experience for all trail users.

The FTA manages over half of the trail system around Fernie. TRAIL AREAS by FTA include: Mt Fernie, Mt Proctor, Morrissey, Heiko's, CONTRA & More.

There are always a number of projects in progress. While some are bigger picture, longer-term projects spanning multiple seasons; many are weekly or seasonal efforts to maintain and improve our extensive trail network.

Work of this magnitude doesn't happen by itself. The FTA collaborates and engages with numerous groups and organisations from volunteer trail builders, various landowners, local businesses and the many passionate outdoor recreation groups to keep the trails as one of Fernie's highlight outdoor attraction. You can learn more about current and upcoming projects on the FTA webpage.

You can help support the work of the Fernie Trails Alliance by purchasing a  FTA Trail Pass or making a donation.

NOTE: Trails in Ridgemont and Montane are managed and maintained by the Coal Creek Heritage Society.  The FTA Trail Pass funds do not support Ridgemont or Montane trails. If you enjoy Ridgemont and Montane please consider a donation to the Coal Creek Heritage Society to support maintenance. Trails at Island Lake Lodge are managed and maintained by Island Lake Resort Group and trails at Fernie Alpine Resort are managed and maintained by Fernie Alpine Resort.

*Purchasing a FTA Trails Pass is non-mandatory, however, it has been unscientifically proving to boost excellent trail karma.*

Donate to the Fernie Trails Alliance

As a Charity, the FTA relies on donations as much as they rely on grants and volunteer hours. Any donation is a great help to the Fernie trail network – whether a general donation or to a specific project. If you're not actively using the trails, making a donation is the perfect way to support local trails.
