Survey Open until October 31st

Tourism Fernie is inviting residents and second homeowners to participate in its Resident Sentiment Survey through October. This brief, anonymous survey, in partnership with Kootenay Rockies Tourism, gives locals, business and property owners a chance to share their perspectives on tourism.

Rooted in a community-first approach, this initiative reflects Tourism Fernie’s commitment to listening to residents and using their feedback to inform strategic planning. The last time residents were engaged about tourism in the community was during the development of the 2020 Tourism Master Plan.

This new survey asks residents to reflect on a range of questions, including their input on top opportunities and investments, and top challenges. The insights gathered will help guide tourism strategies that benefit both visitors and those who call Fernie home.

“Tourism has been a part of Fernie’s economy for over 100 years,” says Jikke Gyorki, Executive Officer at Tourism Fernie Society. “This survey is a chance for residents to tell us how they feel about tourism. To support the engagement, we have also included an ‘About Tourism’ information sheet detailing what tourism is, how the funds come in and circulate within a community, local Fernie numbers and more.”

By taking part in the survey, residents can play an active role in shaping how tourism evolves in Fernie. This feedback is more than data – it informs the decisions Tourism Fernie makes to support a thriving and community-aligned tourism economy.

The survey will be conducted primarily through an online survey that is open from October 1st to the 31st.  A flyer will be mailed to local households and businesses in the Fernie area during the week of October 5th – 9th. In addition, an ad in the October edition of the Fernie Fix, posters around town, Tourism Fernie e-newsletters, and posts on the Fernie Chamber of Commerce social media channels will share access to the survey. Hard copies can be picked up and dropped off at the Fernie Visitor Centre at 102 Commerce Road or requested via email to survey@tourismfernie.com.
