City of Fernie announced that construction on Highway 3- Fernie Section Resurfacing began on July 6, 2026. Construction work will be done during a night shift schedule to help reduce daytime congestion and delays for residents, visitors, and commercial traffic.
Work hours will be from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday with no work on Sundays or over long weekends.
During work hours traffic will be down to single-lane alternating traffic and a construction speed zone of 50km/hour will be in place. Please follow all posted signage.
