Couples can obtain their marriage license locally before the big day, and whether you’re dreaming of a traditional church ceremony, a mountaintop vow exchange, or a personalized service led by one of Fernie’s friendly wedding commissioners, the town offers a variety of options to suit every couple’s style.

Marriage License

To legally marry in British Columbia you must have a BC Marriage License. The licenses are valid for a three-month period. You do not have to be a resident of British Columbia to be married in the province and anyone over 19 years of age is eligible to apply. The Service BC office located in the Fernie Court House can issue a license.
