Island Lake Lodge is excited to welcome visitors onto its property, please ensure you plan your visit as there are non-operational days as well as private function closures throughout the summer. View the schedule of operations here. Vehicle access to the lodge past the lower parking lot (4.5km from the lodge) will be open Fridays to Tuesdays (blackout weekends apply) during summer operations.
Drive through the ancient Old Growth cedar forest to the apex of the Cedar Valley, and Island Lake Lodge. Here you can enjoy casual lunches and cocktails on the patio for lunch or gourmet dining in the evening restaurant while the sun sets over the Three Bears. The property is a beautiful wilderness valley with spectacular views and the ultimate in R n' R. Fernie is the furthest east the beautiful Old Growth Cedar trees grow.
A number of hiking options available that begin from Island Lake Lodge or the lower parking lot. Easier to moderate trails include the Rail Trail, Old Growth Trail and Lake & Fir Trails and are suitable for families. The Tamarack Trail is a short climb and offers beautiful views of the Lodge below, as well as the Three Bears peaks on the Lizard Range to the other side of the valley. Spineback Trail and the Mount Baldy Loop are more challenging trails for experienced hikers through alpine meadows to the upper reaches at the head of the Cedar Valley.
Island Lake Lodge gorgeous landscape is part of Fernie's larger multi-use trail network.
The Food Philosophy at Island Lake Lodge is centred around wholesome, local fare handled with artistry and the lightest touch. Expect to see the local landscape on your plate, from hints of fireweed and cedar to foraged mushrooms and huckleberries. Island Lake Lodge is a member of the Ocean Wise program.
The Bear Bistro & Patio is perfect for casual lunches and cocktails. For summer 2023, the Bistro will only be open Friday to Tuesday 11am - 5pm. Blackout dates apply.
The Tamarack Dining Room is an elegant yet relaxed space with fine dining during the evenings. For summer 2023, this dining room will be open Friday to Monday, 5pm - 10pm. By reservation only!

The tranquil lake below the lodge is a welcoming location for fly fishing and canoeing in traditional Canadian Canoes - available to rent from the lodge. The lake is a wonderful spot for wildlife viewing and relaxing, moose and deer often visit the area.
The Spa is open Friday to Tuesday, 9am - 6pm during summer operations in 2023, based on availability and offers a full range of relaxation & esthetics treatments plus a relaxing patio to enjoy before and after your treatment. Appointments are available by calling the Lodge in advance. New for 2023: a mountain-side hot pool!
Stay a while in one of the beautiful and sublimely relaxing guest rooms. The three accommodation lodges; Tamarack, Cedar & Red Eagle each offer 8-10 guest rooms plus additional relaxation space and beautiful views. Rooms are designed with tranquillity in mind, pillowy soft bedding, soft accents and no TVs or phones in the rooms. Wifi is available throughout the property. Hotel is open for a min of 2-night stays from Friday to Tuesday. Reminder: Island Lake is a backcountry resort. Their off-grid location does not support air conditioning or in-room fridges.

Island Lake Lodge is a winter wonderland from December to March, offering 2, 3, and 4-night catskiing packages. Currently sold out, but feel free to contact them to join their waiting list.
