The Arts Station is the hub of Fernie’s cultural scene and home of the Fernie & District Arts Council.
The Arts Station facilitates art activities, gallery exhibits, public art and much more both at the station and around the community. Visit The Arts Station for current information, program registration and to engage in the Fernie arts.
Public Washrooms are located in Station Square (In the parking lot across from the Arts Station).
Workshops
The Arts Station offers a program of workshops throughout the year.
Classes and workshops vary in duration and may be one-off events featuring a visiting artist, drop-in series, scheduled weekly events, weekend camps or other formats. Past and current events include feltmaking, pottery, painting, drawing, graffiti art, drama, creative writing, lantern building, crafts, encaustic art, jewellery making, sculpture, film-making, and much much more!
Gallery Openings
Every month a new artist is featured in the gallery. Drop by during regular opening hours to see the works, which range from pottery to printing, woodworking to fibre arts, and painting to glasswork. An opening reception is held each month, see calendar for dates.
School Visits
The Art Station School Tour programs combine educational exhibition tours and hands-on art activities. Art activities provide a fun, creative extension to the students’ learning experiences, while they develop specific artistic skills.Tours are guaranteed to stimulate dialogue, facilitate questions, and complement the fine arts curriculum, as well as encourage the exploration of art.
