Silver Spring Lakes: What to Know

Silver Spring Lakes are near the town of Elko, a 30 minute drive west from Fernie. For the last portion of the drive, you will be driving on a logging road with active hauling. Use extreme caution and yield to logging trucks.

This gravel road will take you down across the Elk River Bridge. Travel 3 km along the road. There is a pull out between the 5th and 6th kilometre marker where you can park. The parking area has recently been enhanced, but it's full please return another time. The trailhead is located in the front corner of the parking area, and it isn't signed.

From the parking lot, it is about 15-20 minute hike up the trail (with some steep sections) to reach the first lake.

There is a new outhouse at the parking lot and there is a composting toilet at the first lake. No other faciliies are available. Visitors must pack out what they packed in, and leave the trail, lakes and area clean for everyone's enjoyment and to not attract wildlife.
