In celebration of International Women’s Day, Fernie Alpine Resort presents Calling Women In, a half-day event where you will experience the “highlight reel” of what it is like to be a patroller at your favourite resort.
Throughout the afternoon, you will be taught various outdoor skills that ski patrollers utilize to keep the mountain safe while learning mountain orientation, patrol landmarks, and local patrollers’ favourite runs. You will work alongside female patrollers* to learn more about the many facets of mountain safety and first aid.
*You will not be participating in actual calls on the mountain or rendering any aid of any sort while participating in this event.
Event Schedule:
Noon: Check in at the Fernie Alpine Resort Day Lodge, meet the patrollers and brief for the afternoon.
12.30 pm: Head out on the mountain to shadow patrol.
3 pm: Re-group to watch Avalanche Dog Demonstration
4 pm: Après at Griz Lodge for a drink and a snack.
To get the most out of this experience, an advanced intermediate to expert ski/snowboard ability is required.
REGISTER ONLINE! – The cost to participate in the event is $50, including GST.
A season pass or lift ticket is required to participate in the event and is not included in the registration price.
For those that require lift tickets, they can receive a 20% OFF discount on their lift ticket.
Included in the price of the event is a donation towards supporting our Junior Ski Patrol SheJumps event. Your participation will contribute towards getting a young girl out on the hill and involved.
