Don't let the 'R' word put you off. This is a fun day of racing for all skate and classic cross-country skiers of all ages at the beautiful Elk Valley Nordic Centre.
All skiers are invited to participate in this FREE event - club members and non-members alike. The overall theme will be FUN and CHEERS for all. Although this event has a four-letter word in its name, the Nordic Society wishes to welcome all participants of all abilities to the event, not just ‘racers.’
There will be hot food available by donation – bring a bowl and a mug to help us go green(er).
TENTATIVE RACE FORMAT
Adult-Child (10 and under): 1km for the child and 3km for the adult.
Both leave the hut at the same time. The child stops at the feed station for hot chocolate while the adult skis the Lookout and Cedar Loops. Both skiers return together to the warming hut.
Relay races: 12km total in 4 x 3km legs
Four skiers are drawn at random to form a team. Each skier starts and skis around the Lookout and Cedar Loops to return the warming hut. The next skiers follow the same route until the last skier returns to the hut. For ages 11 and older - younger skiers welcome with parent's consent.
Solo races: 12km
One skier completes the entire course four times until finished. Available categories: male, female, classic, skate, mixed classic/skate also sorted by age.
