Event Details & How To Register
Calling all e-bikers!! Rally at Montane Barn for a fun, inclusive, strategy-based ride that blends navigation, route finding, and smart battery management.
E-Bike Rally Registration is FREE! Deadline to register is June 25th.
The Fernie E-Bike Rally is a non-competitive challenge for individuals or teams. Riders will be given a series of Trailforks checkpoints on the morning of the event and must design their own route to reach them all. Success depends on choosing the most efficient line—balancing distance, elevation, terrain, battery use, and personal riding ability. There’s no single “right” route. Strategy is the challenge. All riders who complete the E-Rally are eligible for prizing, with awards presented during the official Fernie Singletrack 3 (FST3) Awards Ceremony.
Schedule
- 10:00 AM – Arrive at the Montane Barn. Trailforks Checkpoint map/link released.
- 11:00 AM – E-Rally departure window opens.
- 3:00 PM – Course closes / finish cutoff.
- 5:00 PM – E-Rally awards at FST3 Awards Ceremony
Designed to be accessible, social, and fun, the Fernie E-Rally celebrates e-bikes as a tool for exploration, strategy, and inclusive participation—fully aligned with the spirit of Fernie’s trail culture.
What type of E-bike is allowed?
Only a Class 1 e-bike is allowed on Fernie trails. A Class 1 means a bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling (pedal assist) and that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches 32km/hr and has a maximum continuous wattage output of 500 watts.
The Ride & Roast Kids Bike Rodeo is a free event for kids aged 2 to 14.
Up to 100 kids can take part, with 25 participants starting every 30 minutes from 12 pm to 2 pm. Riders will meet at the Kids’ Tent, where the fun begins with bike decorating and a Plinko board game.
From there, kids will take part in a skill-development session before heading into a rodeo adventure on an age-appropriate trail. The ride will include a mini skills course and scavenger hunt. Parents are required to accompany their children on the trail portion.
The adventure wraps up with a treat from Happy Cow.
Funding from the event will help send a local child to camp through the Ghostriders Adventure Camp Foundation.
Kids Bike Rodeo Registration is FREE! Deadline to register is June 26th or until spots are filled.
The Coal Creek Heritage Trail Guided Interpretive Bike Ride is from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM. Maximum 15 people. Please register no later than June 25th. Early registration will help us ensure a great experience and that you receive a spot on the tour. If you can't go please let us know ASAP to fill the spot. All information will be kept confidential and used only for event organization purposes.
The Guided Tour will take experienced adult bikers along the Coal Creek Heritage Trail from the Montane Barn. Class 1 e-bikes are allowed. Please bring your own water and snacks for the ride.
About the Trail & Ride: Guided by local historian and retired geologist Pat Gilmar, the ride is approximately 20km return trip, green level trail, featuring stops at various interpretive signs telling the history of Coal Creek valley, once a thriving coal mine and town.
Guide Bike Ride Registration is FREE! Deadline to register is June 25th or once 15 spots are filled.
Ride to the Ride & Roast Bike Fest in style and show off your townie when you get there. Pimp Your Townie is a fun show ’n shine-style gathering for Fernie’s favourite around-town bikes, from cruisers and commuters to vintage rigs, custom builds, and gloriously questionable daily riders. Shine it up, dress it up, and line it up for display. Between 4:30pm - 5:00pm riders will then roll out for a fun parade lap around the festival area, with the winner chosen by crowd applause.
What to look forward to!

How to Get to The Montane Barn
We encourage the festival goers to bike or walk to the event. The Montane Barn is about a 20 minute walk or a 5-7 minute bike ride from downtown Fernie. The festival will have a secure bike area to encourage attendees to bike to the festival (still bring a lock).
For attendees that can't bike to the festival, you can drive down Coal Creek Road towards the new Coal Creek Campground & RV entrance (120 Coal Creek Rd) to park at the entrance or along Coal Creek Road. The Barn is a couple minute walk from there.
There is also limited parking at the Montane Trailhead off Montane Parkway Road. Walk from the trailhead is 5-10 minutes.
