Morrissey Ridge

Shuttle Riding Area

Adrenaline downhill riders this way!

For those adrenaline downhill riders, make your way to the Morrissey shuttle trails. There are two different ways to get to these trails, depending on which trail you want to ride. This riding area is on private land, please respect the access provided to ensure we continue to have these trails into the future.

Shuttle Trails

For these downhill specific mountain biking trails off Morrissey Ridge (aka Microwave Tower) or lower down, driving to the access points is required, unless you're up for a long ride or have an e-bike.

All shuttle roads require high-clearance and 4x4. The most well known DH trail, thanks in part to an annual event of the same name, is Dirt Diggler, a pro-line. The area has a few other great options that are easier to access yet still mostly black to double-black rated, such as 48 Hours, Dopamine and Three Kings.

The old shuttle access to Dirt Diggler via Coal Creek Road closed in 2021 due to a major rain and flooding event that blew out a bridge.  The new, current, and longer way, requires riders to drive south of town on Highway 3 to Morrissey Road (~ 15km), follow Morrissey Road (aka Paige's Draw), a dirt forestry road, another 25km to Coal Creek Road for a further 5km to Matheson Creek Road (rough 4x4 high clearance), then up Matheson approximately 4km to the microwave tower where the start of Dirt Diggler is.

The other trails can be accessed off Cokato Road from town.  Drive Cokato approximately 10km to a small parking area and the Shuttle Road up to the trail start area. You can drive or ride up the Shuttle Road (~5.4km) to access all trails except Dirt Diggler.
