Mount Proctor

Riding Area

This trail system starts at the Fernie Visitor Information Centre, just a short & easy bike ride from town.

Trails in this area are either for hiking or both hiking and mountain biking.  The main trailhead is from the Fernie Visitor Centre, but it is easy and short to bike to the trailhead from town.  Dogs are not allowed on these bike trails due to being a cow grazing area.

The Mt Proctor trail area is on the north end of town with easy access via the Fernie Valley Pathway to the Fernie Visitor Information Centre on Highway 3.

These singletrack, forested trails are quicker rides (keeners can go up and down Swine in under an hour), with Swine Flu being the harder, technical workout ride with a fast flowing down. The lower portion of Swine Climb to Y-Eddy or Mad Cow is a fun shorter lower mountain ride, great for the mountain bike family.

These trails are typically the fastest to be snow-free in spring due to their southern exposure. The 'cow' theme means you could see some cows around the lower sections as it is a grazing area various times of the year, thus why dogs are not allowed on those trails.

Mountain biking trails include Swine Flu, Y-Eddy, Mad Cow, More Cowbell and Far Side. Technically these trails are multi-use, so be vocal on the trails to warn others of your approach.

Mt Proctor trailhead at the Fernie Visitor Centre is also a popular access point to the 'hiking-only' trails of Fairy Creek Falls (family-friendly) and Mt Proctor (big full-day alpine hike).
