7 Great Family Activities

To Do in Fernie in Fall

The ultimate mountain family, That Mountain Life, explores seven experiences to for all ages to enjoy in Fernie, BC this fall.

#1 Hiking Ridgemont Trails

The Fernie Ridge (aka Ridgemont) trails are some of the best to get the little ones out on foot into nature. The trailhead is close to downtown and can be accessed on foot or by vehicle. Trails such as Cemetery By-Pass to What's Up Doc are a short and mellow meander through lower forests with plenty of great spots to take photos. Be aware that these trails are multi-use and you may encounter mountain bikers along the way.

#2 Golf

Who says that golf is an old person's game? Even if it's your first time swinging a club, anyone can rent a set and hit some balls down at Fernie Golf Club's driving range or practice putting green. Your kids may even discover their new passion.

#3 Big Bang Bagels

You're going to have to fuel up for any big adventures you have with the family this fall. Big Bang Bagels are up baking their fresh bagels from the early hours ready to served with a range of sandwich-style options. When you try one you'll understand why purposefully people stop off in town to grab a bagel.

#4 Frisbee Golf

It doesn't require much to go out for a round of disc golf (aka. frolf). The 18-hole course is found in James White Park and completely free to play. Just turn up with your discs and a sense of fun!

#5 The Vogue Theatre

Empty movie theater with red and yellow lighting, screen at the front.

The Vogue Theatre is Fernie's own movie theatre housed in a beautiful historic building on 2nd Ave, and it's a fantastic indoor option for those rainy days, or when the kids are feeling tired and needing a break. Playing all the latest blockbuster movies every night + weekend matinees.
