Best places to see the larch colour change in Fernie
Fernie's colour transition to the iconic golden fall tones sweeps through the valley from as early as late September, until mid to late October.
With sunny blue skies, vibrant larch mountainscapes, and maybe a gentle dusting of white snow, the diverse colour palette makes autumn a beautiful time to escape the city into the mountains.

Dogwood Park Boat Launch
Dogwood Park Trail is found along the the Fernie Town trail between the West Fernie Bridge and James White Park. There is also vehicular access where you can park up and relax by the Elk River with a picnic.
Fernie Town Trail
Annex Park will be coming more accessible than ever following recent upgrades which saw the trail paved as part of the Fernie Valley Pathway project to better connect the city to Fernie Alpine Resort. The park is just as beautiful as ever with the pond area a local favourite spot to stop for a picnic.
Montane Trails
The Montane Barn parking is the gateway to the Montane trail network, which includes popular trails such as the Easy Beaver to the lookout hut.
Swine Flu Bench
If you're looking to gain some elevation to look back towards town then the first part of the Mt. Proctor trail to the Swine Flu bench is an excellent choice.
Fernie Golf Club
The fairway glimmers under the afternoon sun. You don't have to be a golfer to appreciate them. The club house is a great spot to relax with a drink whilst taking in the views
