Fernie's biggest unsecret-secret event of the year - a fun splash down the Elk River!
Great for all ages, visitors and locals, participants and spectators.
Rafters meet at Dogwood Park to be shuttled to the starting point at the end of Dicken Road. After a short practice session, the race is on! Around 25 rafts will race from the North Fernie Bridge to the South Fernie Bridge. The course is almost entirely flat water and suitable for all ages.
Rafts, all equipment (including lifejackets), qualified guides, and support, are provided. The event carries a very small participation fee and everything else is provided on a voluntary basis. Participation is $20/per person with money going to the Elk River Alliance.
For more information or to find out how to participate please call Canyon Raft Company at 250-423-7226. Participants will assemble around 6pm for shuttling to the start point.
Teams consist of 6 to 8 people per raft. Costumes are totally encouraged. This event ALWAYS sells out so be sure to register your team early! An awards ceremony will follow the event at the Bridge Bistro.
Just want to watch the race? Head down to the river around 7pm and watch as the rafts come past - if you ride your bike, you can follow them along the race route!
