A biennial tradition the whole family will love!
The CPKC Holiday Train is decked out in thousands of colourful lights and travels throughout Canada and the northern US every year raising donations for community foodbanks.
As a smaller community, Fernie sees the train pass through every other year. 2025 sees the train return to our local tracks stopping in the heart of Historic Downtown Fernie at Station Square, with a performance by legendary Canadian rock band, The Barenaked Ladies, celebrating their 25th anniversary!
The train stays lit up throughout its travels, so you can see it from the road at various points along its journey too - many people travel along the road with it, enjoying the celebrations at multiple locations!
The train begins its day on December 14, 2025 in Fort Macleod at 9:15 am, with stops in Pincher Creek at 10:35 am and Coleman at 12:45 pm, continuing into British Columbia:
Sparwood, arriving at 3:10 pm, performance 3:15 - 3:45 pm
Fernie, arriving 4:45 pm, performance 5:00 - 5:30 pm
Jaffray, arriving 6:40 pm, performance 6:50 - 7:20 pm
Cranbrook, arriving 8:45 pm, performance 9:00 - 9:30 pm
ABOUT THE CPKC HOLIDAY TRAIN
The CP Holiday Train program launched in 1999 and has since raised more than C$26 million and 5.4 million pounds of food for communities along CP's routes in Canada and the United States.
Beginning in Montreal, Quebec, two trains will make the festive journey, travelling through both the U.S. and Canada to bring holiday cheer to 182 communities along CP's network. Each event is completely free, with CP encouraging every attendee to open their cupboards or wallets to ease hunger needs in their community. Local food banks will be accepting donations at each stop to ensure those less fortunate can access adequate food this holiday season and year-round.
