Tom and Marj: A Retrospective is an art show and fundraiser featuring 5 decades of work by artists Tom and Marj Foran.
Opening reception: 7pm, all welcome.
Originally from New Zealand, the couple came to Fernie in 1963, where Tom taught art at Fernie Secondary and Marj gave adult art classes and created as a professional artist.
The work of the two artists is full of contrasts: Marj focused on large-scale, dramatic landscapes and abstracts, while Tom's watercolors explored intricate details and soft colours. Sadly, Tom passed away in 2004. Marj is now 95 and still lives in Fernie. This retrospective will showcase works by these partners in art and life, many of which have remained unseen for decades.
Works will be available for sale by online auction, all proceeds to the Fernie Community Fund and the Fernie and District Historical Society.
