Commemorating the end of WWI and honouring all veterans with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #36.
10 AM: Parade assembles in front of the Fernie Legion Building, 551 1st Ave.
Veterans, RCMP, fire service personel, healthcare professionals and local political dignitaries will lead the parade. Members of the public are welcome to follow the parade or join the assembly at the Fernie Courthouse.
10:30 AM: Parade departs from the Fernie Legion Building to the Fernie Cenotaph
10:55 AM: Commemorative Service at the Fernie Cenotaph, Fernie Courthouse, 401 4th Ave.
The service will include the singing of O'Canada with the Fernie Academy choir, The Last Post trumpet, laying of wreaths by local organisations, businesses and individuals, and singing of God Save the King at the conclusion of the event.
11AM: 2 Minute Silence
The Legion will be open to the public following the event.
Remembrance Day is a public holiday in Canada.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
