Skiing

& Snowboarding

Fully surrounded by the dramatic terrain of the Canadian Rockies, namesake to the "Fernie Factor", and home to mind-blowing powder, Fernie ski days are nothing short of legendary.

Steep, Deep & Distinctly Fernie

From hometown charming to ski town hard-charging, Fernie Alpine Resort has 2,500+ acres of dynamic Canadian Rocky Mountain terrain, five alpine bowls, countless glades, chutes, and 145 named runs for every ability. And it's all topped off with an average of 30 feet of annual snowfall. You read that right, 30 feet (that's over 9 metres).

In addition to resort skiing, Fernie is home to two epic catskiing outfitters for those who want to go beyond the boundaries of ordinary.

The Fernie Factor

Fernie has a unique microclimate that causes the so-called Fernie Factor. Weather systems that come in from the west hit the headwall and dump snow in epic portions on the Fernie side of the Rockies. Check out this local video as part of the This is Fernie video series.
