About the Ghostriders

The Fernie Ghostriders play in the Eddie Mountain Division of the Kootenay International Junior Ice Hockey League. Head Coach is Jeff Wagner. The Ghostrider name comes from the icon shadow that forms at sunset on Mt Hosmer in Fernie, that is clearest at the start of the hockey season (and during the summer months). Formerly a Junior B Hockey Team, the division was upgraded to Junior A in 2023.

The Ghostriders won the division during the 2011/2012 season, and the KIJHL in the 2007/2008 season, going on to take the bronze medal at the Cyclone Taylor Cup.

The Ghostriders hosted the Cyclone Taylor Cup (KIJHL, PIJHL & VIJHL Provincial Championships) for the 2010/2011 season, where they took the silver medal.

Fernie won the 2018-2019 Division Semi-Finals in a 4-0 knockout against 3rd place Columbia Valley Rockies. They were knocked out of the tournament by the 1st place Kimberley Dynamiters in a 4-0 Division Final.
