Fernie's own ice stars!
The Fernie Ghostriders compete in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) and have a passionate following. The season starts in early September and ends in February. No visit to Canada is complete without watching our winter national sport.
For the full game schedule, stats and more, visit the Event Calendar or visit the Ghostrider Hockey Team website.
The Fernie Ghostriders are a Junior B Hockey Team, playing in the Eddie Mountain Division of the Kootenay International Junior Ice Hockey League. Head Coach is Jeff Wagner. The Ghostrider name comes from the icon shadow that forms at sunset on Mt Hosmer in Fernie, that is clearest at the start of the hockey season (and during the summer months).
The Ghostriders won the division during the 2011/2012 season, and the KIJHL in the 2007/2008 season, going on to take the bronze medal at the Cyclone Taylor Cup.
The Ghostriders hosted the Cyclone Taylor Cup (KIJHL, PIJHL & VIJHL Provincial Championships) for the 2010/2011 season, where they took the silver medal.
Fernie won the 2018-2019 Division Semi-Finals in a 4-0 knockout against 3rd place Columbia Valley Rockies. They were knocked out of the tournament by the 1st place Kimberley Dynamiters in a 4-0 Division Final.
