Stag Leap Running is a non-profit Trail Running resource.

Launched in 2016, the organisation aims to grow and promote Fernie’s trail running community and opportunities through group runs, races and events. Weekly trail runs every Thursday, year-round, at 6pm - see calendar for details.

At the heart of Stag Leap is a deep love for the mountains and a belief in the power of trail running to inspire, challenge, and unite. Stag Leap Running is proud to play a small part in making Fernie a vibrant hub for trail runners from all walks of life.

Founded in 2016 by Abi Moore, a trail running enthusiast and competitive athlete who won the first Ultra that she ever ran - the Sinister Seven - in 2017. Abi died in a tragic accident in 2024 and her legacy is being continued by her friends and fellow runners.

Relaunched in 2025, Stag Leap Running hosted the brand new Headwall Hustle, a 15km mountain race, at Fernie Alpine Resort in 2025, and hosts weekly trail running groups. The team also co-hosted The annual Tears & Gears mountain Duathlon, which had been co-founded by Abi over a decade ago. More is planned for 2026, including the incredible Fernie Ultra 50km mountain running race and a weekend of trail running on July 25-26th.
