Castle Rock

Strap on snowshoes for this all-day hike to Castle Rock. You'll get your sweat on to get to this spot, but it's hard to argue that its panoramic vistas aren't worth the effort. Bonus points if you come up before the sun rises.

Historic Downtown

You're bound to find something to your liking along Historic Downtown 2nd Avenue. If it's not hunting for treasures in one of the many boutique shops, lunch at an independently run cafe or restaurant, we're confident you'll appreciate the Canadian Rocky Mountains bearing down on the historic buildings.

Fairy Creek Falls

Fairy Creek Falls at the base of Mount Proctor attract plenty of hikers during the warmer months. The falls are even more stunning in the winter with soft marshmallow islands appearing to float over the creek.

Mt Fernie Provincial Park

Snowshoeing in Mt Fernie Provincial Park is great for all ages. Enjoy this beautiful winter wonderland just minutes from town.

Starting at the parking lot on Montane Parkway, venture out by cross-country skies, snowshoe, or fat bike to these stellar views across the Lizard Range and Fernie Alpine Resort. Warm yourselves up inside the Montane Hut before continuing your journey.

Dogwood Park

With the right timing and a bit of luck you can catch a pink sunset over the Elk River, and the Dogwood Park & Boar Launch is one of the best spots for it. Rent a fatbike, crosscountry ski, or snowshoe from several rental shops in town or on the mountain, and head over to one of the town trails with gorgeous views - the Great Northern Trail, Dogwood Trail or James White Park trail.

We'd love to see your epic Fernie views this winter! If you post them on social media, make sure to use #ferniestoke or tag our handles.
