Days are longer and warmer again now that the spring season is upon us. Time to escape the busy city life and take a break with a spring trip to Fernie.

Things are ramping up for the season ahead and we've listed some of our favourite things to do for this spring and summer, along with their opening dates. It's time to spring in action and start planning your getaway.


Fernie Golf Club - mid April

Fernie Golf Club is one of the most scenic golf courses in British Columbia with spectacular views and great playability.  Be sure to spend some time on the Bayleaf Indian Fusion patio located in the clubhouse. Absolutely perfect for those post-game drinks and food. The driving range opens in mid-April and the course in early-May.

Whitewater Rafting - Early season bookings available in May

Plan a tour with Canyon Raft Company or Tunnel49, and they'll steer you through thrilling whitewater, stunning canyons, scenic wilderness. Sure to be one of the best adventures of your life.

Camping - Bookings open in February

Sleep under the stars surrounded by majestic mountains and really connect with nature. Sites are available this spring at Fernie RV Resort, and Mount Fernie Provincial Park, whether you're bringing your tent or an RV.

Island Lake Lodge - reopens June 15th

The ultimate in relaxation - gourmet cuisine, romantic spa and B&B options. Island Lake Lodge's Bear Bistro serves up a stunning mountain lunch.  If you're seeking spectacular views, hike one of the several trails in the area. Need a moment of peace and tranquillity? How about taking a canoe out on the lake and watch the sun dip behind the mountains. Before you visit Island Lake Lodge, please check their operations calendar since they are only open on select days.

Bike Park & Scenic Chair Rides - reopens June 21st

Fernie Alpine Resort's Elk Chairlift starts turning daily on June 21. Timber Chair will be open on weekends starting June 28. Once the snow's away, the hikers, sightseers and downhill mountain bikers can play. If biking sounds a little too intense, take a relaxing scenic chair ride up towards the subalpine for a hike. The views down the valley are stunning.
