Tyra Collombin: Get Outside

Show continues throughout March.

Fernie is known for its world-class sporting backyard. For this exhibition, I want to capture exactly that; the different sports around the town of Fernie! This exhibition will be different for two main reasons: 1) I am a graphic artist, so it will be graphic artwork I have created on my iPad and computer, and 2) I want to capture the sports themselves and not focus on the common Fernie content to paint (the three sisters, island lake, etc.). Fernie is a sporty town, and being someone who loves sports themselves, I know it is hard to find artwork that showcases the sports specifically.

In this exhibition, I will have three different themes: Summer, Winter, and Off-Season. Summer will include biking, swimming, paddle boarding, canoeing, river rafting, running, etc. My winter theme will include skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, skating, etc. The Off-Season theme will include, fishing, hiking, biking in the mud, disc golf, and much more.

This exhibit will be extremely different for a lot of people to see because it is graphic artwork. Many people do not understand graphic art, do not think it is art, do not know a lot about it, and even do not know what it is. I want to share my style of artwork with the people of Fernie, and hope others will want to learn more about a new way of creating visual art! - Tyra Collombin
