Indoor Things To Do When It's Cold Outside

With the extreme temperatures and Fernie Alpine Resort being closed on Friday and Saaturday (Jan 12 & 13), here are some tips on indoor things to do while in Fernie.

Some additional ideas and information:

Fernie Heritage Library will be open extended hours as a warming centre. Open Friday until 6pm, Saturday Noon – 4pm. Colouring sheets are available for kids, and there’s always a warm welcome and lots of comfy beanbags to snuggle up with a book. 

 

The Arts Station is open on Friday until 9pm, and on Sunday 9:30am – 3pm. (Closed Saturday).
Check out the #FernieArtStreak word of the day inspiration from The Arts Station at get creative or drop by to see the daily-expanding exhibit of artstreak works in the Gallery! Also available: Ready Paint Fire – drop in and paint some pre-made pottery at your leisure, and the Early Years Corner, an informal area to enjoy painting and crafts aimed at pre-schoolers.

 

Fernie Aquatic Centre is open on Friday until 8pm, 11:30 – 6pm on Saturday and 1-6pm on Sunday. See program description for details of which areas of the pool facilities are open. 

 

Fernie Memorial Arena is open on Saturday for public skating from 7-8:30pm and on Sunday from 3:15 – 6:45pm. Gearhub Adventure Rentals offers skate and hockey stick rentals among other outdoor gear rentals, open daily 8:30am – 12:30pm and 3-6pm; located on Hwy 3. 


Vogue Theatre
 opens two new movies on Friday night: Mean Girls and The Iron Claw. Screenings at 7pm and on Saturday & Sunday matinees at 3pm. The Vogue Arcade room featuring new and vintage arcade and table games is available for booking for groups.


The Fernie Museum
 is open daily 11am – 4pm.
