3-day Itinerary - Spring Visit to Fernie BC

The Spring season is the best time to escape the busyness of city life and escape to the mountains. Watch nature awaken and absorb new energy as you gently explore what our friendly mountain town has to offer.

Day 1 - Welcome to Fernie

Check in at your accommodation and then head out to explore Fernie Historic Downtown with its century-old buildings, boutique shops and galleries. The locally-owned restaurants along 2nd Avenue offer many options for a unique culinary experience.

2nd Avenue is the heart of Fernie

Have a night cap at Fernie Distillers or at Bramasole Wine Bar - the town’s newest wine bar, both open until late.

Fernie Distillers is a popular spot for original coctails made from small batch craft spirits

Day 2 - Explore the Trails

Montane is interspersed with trails for all levels

Wake up bright and early and follow the smell of freshly baked organic baguettes and pastry to Le Bon Pain Bakery. Rent a fat bike or a mountain bike from one of the local bike shops and explore Fernie’s extensive trail system. Trails in Montane area are usually the first ones to be rideable after winter and offer a variety of level difficulty.

Lunch break at one of Fernie's cafes or restaurants is always a good idea.

For a relaxing afternoon, we recommend hitting the driving range or greens at Fernie Golf Club. Soak in magnificent views of the mountains surrounding this beautiful golf course. Not a fan of golf? Try a round of disc golf at James White Park. It's a great activity for all ages.

Fernie Golf Club Driving Range opens at the end of April and the course opens mid-May

Head back Downtown just in time to enjoy a couple of hours of ultimate pampering in one of Fernie’s Spas before dinner.

Giant Outdoor Hot Pool at Spa 901

Fernie’s dining scene is diverse and delicious. But if you feel like staying in, you can rent a fondue or a raclette set from Le Grand Fromage and create your own culinary experience.

Le Grand Fromage offers wide selection of cheese and other gourmet

Day 3 - Connect With The Local Culture

A visit to Fernie would not be complete without trying a freshly baked bagel from Big Bang Bagels. It’s a classic, we promise. Fueled for another day, explore Fernie’s history by taking the self-guided Heritage Walk or the Art Walk. Pick up a map at Fernie Museum or Fernie Visitor Centre.

Architectural Heritage - Fernie City Hall

Shop for unique souvenirs and small-batch Canadian-made collections at Coal Town Goods or the latest in fashion at Freyja Kootenay Boutique.
