Spring Visit to Fernie BC

- 3-day Itinerary

Spring is the perfect time to leave the hustle of city life behind and retreat to Fernie, surrounded by mountains. As nature awakens, soak in the fresh energy of the spring season while exploring Fernie's charm and adventures.

Day 1 - Welcome to Fernie

Check in at your accommodation and head out to explore Fernie Historic Downtown with its century-old buildings, boutique shops and galleries. The locally-owned restaurants along 2nd Avenue offer many options for a unique culinary experience.

Have a delicious night cap at Fernie Distillers - award-winning small batch distillery or at Bramasole Wine Bar and Restaurant - with a wide selection of BC wines; both open until late.

Day 2 - Explore the Trails

Wake up and smell the freshly roasted coffee from Rooftop Coffee Roasters on 2nd Avenue. Rent a  mountain bike from one of the local bike shops and explore Fernie’s extensive trail system. Trails in Montane area are usually the first ones to be rideable after winter and offer a variety of trail difficulty.

Lunch break at one of Fernie's cafes or restaurants is always a good idea.

For a relaxing afternoon, we recommend hitting the driving range or greens at Fernie Golf Club. Soak in magnificent views of the mountains surrounding this beautiful golf course. Not a fan of golf? Try a round of disc golf at James White Park. It's a great activity for all ages.

Head back Downtown just in time to enjoy a couple of hours of ultimate pampering in one of Fernie’s Spas before dinner.

Fernie’s dining scene is diverse and delicious and we highly recommend giving it a try. But if you feel like staying in, you can rent a fondue or a raclette set (and buy the cheese of course) from Le Grand Fromage, and create your own culinary experience.

Day 3 - Connect With Local Culture

A visit to Fernie would not be complete without trying a freshly baked bagel from the iconic Big Bang Bagels. It’s a classic, we promise. Fueled for another day, explore Fernie’s history by taking the self-guided Heritage Walk or the Art Walk. Pick up a map at Fernie Museum or Fernie Visitor Centre.

Shop for unique souvenirs and small-batch Canadian-made collections at Coal Town Goods or the latest in fashion at Freyja Kootenay Boutique.

Before you get on your way, we recommend grabbing a selection of locally brewed craft beers and original souvenirs from the Fernie Brewing Company to bring to your friends back home.
