Canadian Powder Tours

There's a beautiful log chalet hidden behind tall evergreens on a quiet street, backing onto a natural space along the Elk River with the prominent Lizard Range and the five alpine bowls of Fernie Alpine Resort towering in the background. If you didn't know that Canadian Powder Tours Lodge was here, hidden in plain sight, it's true – you might miss it.

Just a ten-minute walk from Fernie's historic downtown, or under five minutes by car to the ski hill, Canadian Powder Tours all-inclusive chalet is a dream amongst one of the dreamiest places we know and is entirely worth the stay. Tree-lined walking trails along the pristine Elk River are just steps away down the street, the best cross-country ski routes are just moments away at the Elk Valley Nordic Centre.

Established in 1997 by Susan Mould – a vibrant and talented woman born in nearby Kimberley – the chalet is a catered, elegant, and cozy experience modelled on the European ‘catered ski chalet’ providing a home-away-from-home for anyone who wants to visit Fernie.

Guests can warm up after a daylong ski and sink into a comfortable couch next to the stone fireplace, take in a book from the extended library, and enjoy a much-needed soak in the hot tub on a starry night. Book a private room or the entire chalet for a minimum of three nights or up to two weeks.

Indulge in organic, made-from-scratch hearty breakfasts, daytime snacks, afternoon cakes and drinks, followed by a decadent three-course gourmet meal at the 12-foot dining table over candlelight each night (BC wines are included).

Susan is a fully certified chef and puts great care into what guests at Canadian Powder Tours bite into. Each flavour is well-orchestrated to deliver goodness. There's more, though; she offers complimentary guiding at Fernie Alpine Resort, providing guests with access to her own personal favourite ‘only the locals know’ trails and tree skiing, guaranteed to leave you with your adrenaline pumping.

Canadian Powder Tours also makes it easier for skiers and snowboarders alike to book a day of legendary catskiing at locally owned Fernie Wilderness Adventures.

Susan encourages guests to participate in Fernie's elaborate and vibrant atmosphere; she organizes nights out at local hockey games to enjoy true Canadian sportsmanship, and keeps up to date with all the latest movies and live entertainment at Fernie's historic Vogue Theatre, Arts Station and local bars so she can always suggest a great night out. She also has a keen sense for exactly which restaurants will suit your tastebuds if you prefer a night out for dinner.

Canadian Powder Tours is also available for summer vacations, and Susan provides guided mountain biking through her Fernie Mountain Bike Lodge packages.

After a big day outside, it's nice to come home to Canadian Powder Tours.
