More than just a pretty face:  Mountain Wildflowers

Take a stroll through our colourful sub-alpine meadows and discover why flowers are not only beautiful but also an interesting and important part of the natural landscape and ecosystem. 

Time:  11am – 2pm
Cost, including scenic chairlift ride: 
Adults (18+): $51.95 
Senior (65+)/Youth (13-17): $43.95
Child (6-12): $25.95
Family (2 adults + 3 youth/kids): $120.95
*Reservations Required. Book by phone or by email or in person at the FAR Adventure Centres: at Lizard Creek Lodge at Fernie Alpine Resort, or at Fernie RV Resort in town. Hike-only rates (no lift ticket included) also available).

All hikes are guided by experienced, professional staff. 
Hikes are moderate in difficulty, 3 hours in length.
Recommended gear:

  • Daypack
  • Lunch/snacks/water
  • Sunglasses & Sunscreen
  • Camera & Binoculars
  • Additional clothing layers to allow for changes in temperature/conditions (waterproofs, sweater, hat)
  • Sturdy, comfortable footwear

    • Lost Boys Pass (moderate) or Old Growth Cedar (easy)
  • Half day hikes in Town
    • Fairy Creek Falls (easy) or The Ancient Ammonite (steep)
    • 2hr Birdwatching town tour
  • Full day hikes at Fernie Alpine Resort
    • Griz Face (moderate-hard) Polar Peak (moderate-hard)

Daily from Nature Bob's Interpretive Centre at the top of the Elk Chair:

  • Complimentary Interpretive walk (with the purchase of a lift ticket).

Weekly Scheduled Hikes:

  • Tuesdays, 5:30-7:30pm: Forage & Feast, Adult $35/Child $22
  • Saturdays, 5-7:30pm: Kids Nature Hike & BBQ Pool Party, Youth $31.40/Child $24.50
  • Sundays, 8-10am: Birding & Breakfast, Adult/Youth $24/Child $13

  • Peak to Park to Pint Mountain Bike Tour
    Fridays, 1:30-4:30pm $59.95

2018 Chairlift Schedule:

Elk Chair: Daily from 10.30am-4.30pm & until 7pm on Thursdays

Timber Chair: Sat, Sun & Stat Holidays from 10.30am-4.30pm daily (holidays include Canada Day weekend, July 2, and BC Day, Aug 6, & Labour Day, Sep 3)
Timber Chair also open for bonus weekends, Sep 8/9, 15/16, 22/23 & 29/30.
