L’omelette weaves threads of soul, jazz and punk into colourful, emotionally honest tapestries. The Calgary art-rockers dart between progressive and new-wave rock rhythms and synth-led dance pop, tied together by commanding, current concepts and melodies.
The group delights in immersing participants in the joy, emotional texture and cohesiveness that comes with blending music and visuals. Commonly seen draping their instruments with feather boas and flowers, enlivening their merchandise table with friends' artwork, or theming their attire at local shows for no reason other than to be silly, their vision is firstly to pass positive energy onto others.
Their vibrant, heady, progressive sound has been winning over the hearts of Calgarians for years. Frontwoman Meg Benedict’s fierce vocal, saxophone and synth stylings are underpinned by guitarist Alex Klipper’s thoughtful, driving riffs, Matthew Lowe’s infectiously melodic bass lines, and Peter Cormier’s double-duty drumming and backup vocals. The result? Something to chew on - a vivacious, heady, danceable, thought-provoking performance.
Their debut full length album 'you are here', released November 2022, is a collection of emotionally and rhythmically-charged songs about the triumphs and challenges of being an artist and human. Co-written over the last two years, the songs had time to exist, breathe and grow before they were recorded in early 2022. The songs were an escape and a reckoning at once, a reason to think and create together. They speak of the destructiveness of civilization. The restless monkey mind. Our connection to the infinite love and energy of the universe. How others' perception shapes our reality. And of course, lousy men.
Raised on Canada's greatest folk music, Natalie Inga brings a modern perspective to the tradition of writing for change. Her sweet voice, stacked harmonies, rich guitar parts, and bold messages make up her signature sound. For fans of Joni Mitchell, Sara Bareilles, Dan Mangan, Sammy Rae, Rett Madison, and Michelle Willis.
