The BelleRegards are a Canadian folk group based on the songwriting and complementing voices of Matthew Kingsley, from Lennoxville, Quebec and Melanie Hilmi, from Belleville, Ontario.
The BelleRegards began in 2012 when a passion for music brought Matt, Mel, David Poulin and Mitchell Thomson to Toronto to study audio production. Soon the four were jamming in Matt's living room and by the end of the year the band had launched a self-produced EP, "One Word".
Having recently recorded a fourth album, the BelleRegards' sound has evolved from a lively four-piece act to a more intimate duo, maintaining their upbeat energy and Canadiana folk style but exploring a more grounded country-blues undertone.
"More versatile than the typical folk combo, mixing in bluegrass, rockabilly, country, and old-time folk flavours. Spirited instrumentation and nicely-knitted vocal harmonies are signatures."
- Kerry Doole, New Canadian Music
