8th Annual Turkey Trot at Montane

A fun run, walk or hike fundraising event for all ages on the Montane trail system for prizes!

Join the 8th Annual Turkey Trot organized by, and in support of, the Elk Valley Dolphins Swim Club, a local non-profit providing families in the Elk Valley a safe environment which offers quality swim training with a focus on long term athlete development (read more below).

About the Trot!  Prizes for fastest, best dressed and by draw!

• By donation!  All donations go directly to the Club to support local youth! The bigger the donation the better, but if you can't you are still welcome to participate!
• Marked 11km and 4.5km route in the Montane Trail System, right in town. Majority of the route is on singletrack trails.
  • The ~11km loop follows the Montane Blue Trail starts and ends at the Montane Barn or Montane Trailhead (TBC). 
    • ~ 243m elevation gain
  • The 4.5km loop starts and ends at the Montane Barn or Montane Trailhead (TBC).  Exact route TBC, but its shorter and easier ;-)
• This is a self-directed/supported run, walk, hike on the marked trail.  As a fun, casual event there is no on-course support or drinks or snacks, except at the start/finish.
• Times will be recorded by stop watch volunteers, runners will be tracked by name and number.  
• Start time is whenever you want between 8:00am and 1:00pm, there are no organized starts.  You must sign-in first at the start, and get recorded at the end.
• HONESTY is a MUST! As a fun self-directed fundraising event there are no marshals on the routes, but the route is clearly marked.  A volunteer will roam in general and do a route sweep at the end.
• Just show up on the day, no pre-registration! Bring donation in cash or support by debit/credit card on site.
• Prizes awarded after final person has completed the event.  After this fun event, attend the Thanksgiving at the Barn event (same location by the Montane Barn) from 12 noon till 3pm.
