Fernie is incredible for many reasons, but the reason I keep going back is this: Fernie has four distinct seasons and fall (my favourite season) just so happens to be the most beautiful. Here is a round-up of my favourite photographs from Fernie in fall.

Maiden Lake looks like it could be deep in the Fernie backcountry yet it is one of the most accessible places to visit in town. Located behind Canadian Tire and the Independent Grocers, Maiden Lake offers beautiful views of Mount Fernie, the Three Sisters, and Mount Proctor. On a calm day, the reflections are stunning.
Looking even further to the right, you can even spot Mt Hosmer; the Ghostrider shadow can be seen on sunny evenings. The colours around the lake are magical in their own right too.
Fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking and camping are still as popular during this colourful season as they are throughout the summer peak months.
The Town Loop Trail follows the dyke along the Elk River forming a protective barrier during the spring melt. Along here you'll find some of the most stunning fall colour views.
The view of the Three Sisters (not to be confused with the Three Sisters in Canmore) from the Montane trail network is one of my favourites in town. Montane is an excellent network that is open throughout the year to hikers, bikers, runners and dog walkers. During the winter the groomed trails are accessible to cross-country skiers, fat biking enthusiasts and snowshoers.
Follow the Easy Beaver Adaptive Trail to the Montane warming hut where you'll find panoramic views of the Lizard Range stretching from Fernie Alpine Resort, towards Island Lake Lodge.
Fernie truly shines as snow-capped peaks are accentuated by the fall colours. Pictured is the iconic Mount Fernie - accessible for a fall hiking adventure.
Mount Fernie Provincial Park is a great place to take in the fall colours that Fernie has to offer.
The road out to the Wigwam River leads you deep into the Fernie backcountry, yet for much of the summer it was inaccessible as the wildfire danger was too great. However, it opened up just in time for a fishing trip. The colours on display were beautiful, coupled with more snow capped peaks.
