Download the Trailforks App or pick up a copy of Fernie Trail Map in one of the outdoor shops around town and head out for a nice low-valley hike. Montane trails and Castle Rock are usually the first hikes to clear in early spring and offer stunning views of the valley and the Rocky Mountains.

Day 3 - White Water Rafting
Set out for a day on the river with experienced and friendly guides. White water rafting season starts in late May and offers the ultimate adrenalin experience, taking you through stunning canyons with beautiful views on the surrounding mountains and a chance for spotting wildlife. Lunch is included in the trip!

Day 4 - A 2-wheel Adventure
Rent a mountain bike or a fat bike from one of the local shops if you don’t have your own and hit the trails either on your own or with an experienced local guide. Looking to level up your riding skills? Book a private lesson with Ridetheory. Check in with locals about current trail conditions, be respectful, keep your dogs on leash and make lots of noise. Carrying a bear spray while exploring Fernie trails is always a good idea.
Spring biking in Montane
Spend the afternoon strolling and immersing yourself in Fernie’s Culture. Choose one or both self-guided tours – The Heritage Walk or the Art Walk and connect with the local community of talented artists and artisans.
Not sure if you want to head out for dinner? Many of Fernie’s restaurants offer delivery or take-out. Or build your own charcuterie board with gourmet cheese and other delicacies from Le Grand Fromage. Le Bon Pain Bakery is where you want to get your baguettes or bread from, made with organic flour and lots of love.

Day 5 - Play a round of Disc Golf
Have you ever tried disc (frisbee) golf? It is played much like traditional golf. Spend a couple of hours at the James White Park where the 18 basket course is located. We guarantee you will have fun. Read more about the disc golf course here.
