Session 1: Immersion Dyeing Wool Yarn

Dye your own wool for knitted or woven projects, using chemical dyes Wool is locally sourced from Corriedale sheep to create a variety of colours.
Session 2: Space Dyeing Wool Yarn
April 4/5
Dye your own wool for knitted or woven projects! Yarn is painted in a variety of colours and heated to set. All wool sourced from local Corriedale sheep.
Session 3: Dyeing Cotton, Linen and Silk
April 11/12
Silk, cotton and linen fibres will be dyed using chemical dyes. Techniques include immersion and fibre painting.
Session 4: Nature Dyeing Wool, Cotton and Linen
April 25/26
Local plants and purchased plant extracts will be used to create natural colours on wool and cellulose fibers.
Session 5: Dyeing with Indigo
May 2/3
Two techniques will be used to dye with indigo blue on yarns and fabric. Some novelty shibori methods will be introduced.

Gayle Vallance is a Master Spinner, sheep farmer, weaver, felter and dyer with over forty years experience. She taught the Master Spinner program at Olds College for 10 years and continues to investigate all things fiber arts.
