The Fernie Ghostriders are a Junior A* Hockey Team, playing in the Eddie Mountain Division of the Kootenay International Junior Ice Hockey League. Head Coach is Chad Scharff, assistant coach is Dante Raposo, Trainer is Ashley Casault.
The Ghostrider name comes from the icon shadow that forms at sunset on Mount Hosmer in Fernie, that is clearest at the start of the hockey season (and during the summer months).
The Ghostriders are the defending 2023-2024 Kootenay Conference Champions and Eddie Mountain Division Winners.
The Ghostriders won the division during the 2011/2012 season, and the KIJHL in the 2007/2008 season, going on to take the bronze medal at the Cyclone Taylor Cup.
The Ghostriders hosted the Cyclone Taylor Cup (KIJHL, PIJHL & VIJHL Provincial Championships) for the 2010/2011 season, where they took the silver medal.
*The KIJHL was upgraded from Junior B to Junior A for the 2023-2024 season by uninimous vote of BC Hockey's Board of Directors in July, 2023. Read more...
